Dinner with a Local Librarian

Wednesday, October 18 | 6:00 p.m.

What better way to experience what Tampa has to offer than with those in the know – the locals! This evening event gives attendees the chance to have dinner with school librarians and local authors at restaurants handpicked to show off the city’s gastronomic delights. Eat, laugh, and learn about the conference host city during this informal, preconference event. A list of available restaurants and sign-up sheets will be available at registration Wednesday morning and space is limited.

🍴 Each attendee covers their own meal.

AASL Research Symposium

Thursday, October 19 | 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The AASL Research Symposium offers researchers and others an opportunity to share and learn about the latest scholarly research in school librarianship. The symposium opens with findings shared from the ESLS Community of Scholars, a committee that works throughout the year to analyze and synthesize research trends in school librarianship over the past two years. A crowdsourcing activity to identify emerging trends will follow this part of the program. A recently added component of the symposium offers an opportunity for researchers to hear from and collaborate with doctoral students and other newer voices in the field about topics beyond those previously discussed. Research Symposium participants will leave with updated information about scholarly topics along possible collaborative partnerships.

* AASL Research Symposium is a ticketed event for which an additional $75 fee is required.
